Your Pre-Season To Do List

Geez, I have done it again. I turned up to my first game of the season realising that my boots don’t fit me anymore and I’ve got the wrong-coloured socks on. I bet this has happened to you or a teammate on numerous occasions. To ensure this never happens again (hopefully) I have created a Sunday League Pre-season To Do List just for you!

If you haven’t ever registered to play before you could get a little lost so here’s a brief guide on how to register.

First, all you have to do is load up the Play Football website or App and create an account. After this you will choose one of the following options:

  • Re-Registering to play this season?
  • New to Football?
  • Coaches, Referees and Volunteers.

If you are a player you will be given six playing options-these options include: MiniRoos (4-11), Club Football, Women’s Football, Futsal/Social, Walking Football and Inclusion. Once you have chosen one of these options, select an age group you wish to play in and then choose which club you would like to play for. Some Clubs may want you to contact them first before registering.

If you need any more information on how to register all you have to do is go to the Registration Help section and get in touch.

Note that Junior players can use their ‘Active Kids Voucher’ towards their registration fees.  Information for this can be found at the Service NSW Website.

In prep for your game, you should always pack the night before so you don’t have to rush on the big day.

Getting a bigger bag such as a sports duffle bag is ideal, but any big bag will do the job.

Here is a list of the things you need to pack.

  • You should be wearing your new football kit, otherwise remember to pack it and a spare
  • Football Boots (if you’re not wearing them yet)
  • Grip Socks
  • Sock Tape
  • Ball
  • Shin Guards
  • Water Bottle
  • Wrap Tape/Injury Tape
  • Spare Goalkeeping Gloves (if you’re a Goalkeeper of course)
  • Jacket
  • Football Socks
  • Sports Towel

Now that you have all this useful information at your fingertips you should be totally confident that you are ready to start your football season the right way.  Whether as a player, coach, referee or fan I hope to see you on the pitch.
